NAS Recovery - Plextor

Plextor, formerly known as TEXEL, is a leading manufacturer of optical disk recorders. Plextor is also the brand name for all products manufactured by the Electronic Equipment Division and Printing Equipment Division of Shinano Kenshi Boseki, the parent company of Plextor.

Plextor product line includes Blu-ray drives, hard disk drives, DVD±R/RW CD-R/RW drives (ATAPI, SATA, Dual IEEE 1394 and Hi-Speed USB), digital video converters, and CD-RW drives (ATAPI and Hi-Speed USB interface). Plextor also offers a disc erasing drive called PlexEraser. Software products include PlexTools.

Plextor optical drives are known for their durability; hence, they are expensive too.  Despite this, Plextor was late in offering DVD-RAM support. Some of its products, including PX-760, PX-755, PX-716, even have this feature removed.

New Products
In November 2008, Plextor announced a set of new products: 6x Blu-Ray Combo drives, 22x Super Multi DVD±RW drives, and an 8x Slim External USB DVD±RW for PC and Mac.

The new PX-B310SA Blu-ray Disc Combo Drives enable play-back of Blu-ray Discs, while maintaining the capability of archiving data onto CD or DVD.

The PX-850SA Super Multi DVD±RW drives enable burning to any DVD or CD media, including DVD-RAM and DVD±R DL media. The Super Multi DVD+RW Drives are bundled with Roxio Creator 10 CE.

The PX-610U 8x Slim External USB DVD±RW DVD writer does not require the use of an AC adapter or multiple USB ports. Powered by an internal battery, this DVD writer requires only a single USB port for power and data transfer. The PC version includes Roxio Creator 10 CE while the Mac version is bundled with a full retail version of Toast 9 Titanium.
