Hard Drive Recovery - Snow White

Snow White Snow White design language was an industrial design language developed by Frog Design. It was used by Apple Computer in their product lines.

One of the interesting featured of Snow White design language was the vertical and horizontal stripes that created the illuison of the computer enclosure being smaller than it actually is.

Snow White was different from original Apple industrial design in several aspects. It featured minimal surfce texturing. It was colored a light off-white (Fog) or light gray (Platinum). Fog products have beige accents and cables. Platinum products have uniform color (no accents) and Smoke gray cables. The design featured 3-dimensional Apple logo, diamond cut to the exact shape. It had zero-draft enclosures with no variances in case thickness and perpendicular walls.

These features indicate that Snow White frog design influenced Apple design greatly. Apple IIc was the first to use the Snow White design along with the various peripherals and accessories designed for it. However, the Apple IIc does not represent the complete set of design elements. Macintosh II includes all of them. Later, the Macintosh LC started phasing out some of these design elements.

Most Apple displays introduced between 1984 and 1994 also used Snow White, except those specifically designed to match the Apple II series. All Apple ADB keyboards and mice introduced between 1986 and 1993 were Snow White designs.
