Hard Drive Data Recovery Services - AMD Turion
AMD Turion is the brand name given to AMD’s 64-bit mobile processors codenamed K8L. Important models include Turion 64 and Turion 64 X2/Ultra processors. They compete with Intel’s mobile processors, the Pentium M in the past and currently the Intel Core and Intel Core 2 processors.
Turion 64: Turion 64 processors are compatible with AMD’s Socket 754. The newer model, codenamed Richmond are designed for Socket S1. They are equipped with 512 or 1024 KiB of L2 cache, a 64-bit single channel on-die memory controller, and an 800 MHz HyperTransport bus. Also included are the features like PowerNow! designed to improve battery life.
Turion 64 X2: Turion 64 X2 is the 64-bit dual-core mobile CPU. Turion 64 X2 was first produced on IBM’s 90nm Silicon on insulator (SOI) process. They use Socket S1 and feature DDR2 memory. Also included is the AMD virtualization technology and power-saving features. The older 90 nm devices were codenamed Taylor and Trinidad, while the newer 65 nm cores have codename Tyler.
Turion 64 X2 Ultra: Codenamed Griffin, this is the first processor family from AMD solely for the mobile platform. They are based on the Athlon 64 architecture with some specific architectural enhancements aimed for lower power consumption and longer battery life. The Turion Ultra processor was released as part of the “Puma” mobile platform. The Turion Ultra processor shares the same socket S1 as its predecessor. It is designed to work with the RS780M chipset.
