HP ProLiant High Availability Storage Server provides a high-performance standalone network file storage solution that allows users to easily add clustered networked file storage to an IT environment. It also enables new data services with a SAN Gateway. By consolidating and offloading the storage out of application servers, these servers help reduce backup time and create a scalable disk-based backup or replication target.

HP ProLiant High Availability Storage Server comes pre-installed with Microsoft Windows operating system including Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Management Console, so it is easy to deploy, configure and use. It also eliminates the need of multiple interfaces. It supports multiple protocols including SMB/CIFS, NFS, HTTP, FTP, WebDAV, AppleTalk, and NetWare protocols.

By offering the redundancy in servers and components such as cables and controllers, HP ProLiant High Availability Storage Server allows clients to continue their work even if any of these individual components fail. Since the server runs on Windows, it integrates natively into client’s Active Directory and DFS environments, and runs antivirus, backup, and storage management applications. It offers up to 20 percent faster file serving performance than a Windows Server 2003 R2 installation.

The server features a scalable 6U rack mount platform that supports 2 quad-core processors per server, up to 8 internal small form factor (SFF) drives per server, up to 48 external large form factor (LFF) drives, and redundant storage controllers, power and cooling. HP ProLiant High Availability Storage Server is also a Windows print server, offering consolidation benefits to Windows print.
